Horsemanship

When it comes to getting started in horsemanship, I was a blank slate. I didn't have preconceived notions of what was good and what was bad. Who I liked and who I didn't.
Along this journey, I have researched, tried and tested.
Below are the products, people, and resources that have made the cut.
Will they be the perfect solution for you?
I don't know.
All I can tell you they resonated with me, they worked, and I highly recommend you check them out for yourself.

YouTube Channels

Clinton Anderson

Clinton Anderson is very well known in the horse training circles. For some, he might be a bit "too much". For me, I resonated with his approach. He had a video series where he documented taking a rescue horse through his method. These were the foundation for the work I did with Dart.

Watch Dry Creek

Dry Creek Wrangler School

I came across these videos by Dewayne and instantly resonated with him. To be honest, I basically binge watched the entire channel. From horsemanship and training, to life philosophy and cigars.
I can't wait to attend the school myself!

natural horsemanship - craig cameron - david didier
Watch Craig

Craig Cameron

A long time figure in horse training. His channel contains a lot of "how to" videos on specific lessons and drills.
mustang trainer - gerry cox - david didier
Watch Gerry

Gerry Cox

Located in the Bitterroot Valley south of Missoula, Gerry has a lot of experience working with mustangs. His channel has been a go-to along my horsemanship journey. I look forward to attending some of his clinics.
well known horse trainer - pat puckett - david didier
Watch Pat

Pat & Deb Puckett

Pat is unapologetically Pat. I love it. He says what he thinks, and everything he teaches he learned from real ranching experience.
I like his "old school" "no-nonsense" approach.
buckaroo horse trainer - carson james - david didier
Watch Carson

Carson James

Carson is a younger up and coming horse trainer. I haven't watch a whole lot of his stuff; but, he has had a few videos were I appreciated hearing his perspective on something I have seen covered on other channels.
australian horse trainer - warwick schiller - david didier
Watch Warwick

Warwick Schiller

This is another channel that I haven't watched a ton; but, his video on hard to catch horses was critical when I first started working with Dart. He discussed "shadowing the horses steps". That proved to be very helpful for me.

Tack and Supplies

Shop Murdochs

Murdoch's

In Missoula, Murdoch's is my go to shop for basic and everyday items. The main things I have been sourcing from Murdoch's are: load ropes, training aids, fly spray, deerskin gloves, grooming supplies, and feed buckets.

Clinton Anderson

As a way to monetize his brand and expertise, Clinton has a pretty extensive shop. So far, his rope halters are my favorite and what I will be using moving forward.

B&H Rope Halters

This is where I got my first snaffle bit and set of mecate reins. The reins are made to order. For the price, I haven't found a better value for the mecate reins anywhere on the internet.
western tack consignment - crazy horse consignment - david didier
Check Them Out

Crazy Horse Consignment

They are a local tack shop in Lolo (just south of Missoula). They have tons of new and used tack, equipment, and clothing.
I went down there to see what they had, and ended up buying my first headstall, slobber straps, and curb strap. All quality, Amish made, and thick leather.
